My 8-year-old spent a whole afternoon building this crab and was so proud when the legs started moving in the sun. The switch between solar and battery modes is clever, and the crawling action is surprisingly lifelike for a plastic kit.

Setting it up was surprisingly easy, and watching the crab scuttle under just the desk lamp felt like a real science win. The solar panel is small but actually works, which impressed my 8‑year-old more than any app ever could.

My nephew and I built this together on a rainy afternoon, and the moment the solar panel caught the window light, that little crab started scuttling across the table. It's genuinely satisfying to watch something you assembled come to life, and the battery backup means it still works on cloudy days.
