My 5-year-old was absolutely captivated watching the salt separate from the water in the little distillation setup. It’s simple enough that she could help with most steps, and the hands-on demonstration made the concept click way better than any book could.

We set it up at the kitchen table with just a water glass, and watching the salt separate from the sea water really clicked for my 6-year-old. I love that it's a hands-on science lesson that doesn't need a bunch of extra supplies.

The kids fought over who got to pour the saltwater in first—that’s how engaged they were watching the filter pull the salt out. It only needs a regular glass and a bit of patience, which makes it perfect for a rainy afternoon science session.
